DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE:
As in previous years, our Parish has chosen to be involved in the annual Share Lent campaign for Development and Peace. This is the official agency for overseas development of the Canadian Roman Catholic Church. Every year, as a Lenten offering, we ask members of our community to give something of their worldly wherewithal, to those in the emerging world who have not the things that we here in Canada take for granted: Running water, electricity, food, clothing, and shelter, as well as education and medical care. Lent begins this coming February 17, on Ash Wednesday. On the first Sunday of Lent, I will be making an announcement after communion, asking you to participate in this venture, and, as in previous years, will distribute money banks to those Parishioners, especially those who have children, who wish to give money by collecting their spare change. We will also have a special collection on the fifth Sunday of Lent, with special envelopes distributed in the bulletin to that effect. You will also be able to contribute at any time during Lent, by making cash donations, or by check, made out to 'Development and Peace', and give them to Peter Stuart, who is the Development and Peace volunteer for the Parish. You may also mail your checks to the Parish office, the address to which is indicated on the front page of the Bulletin.
